It is going out on the wires now: one of the companies I have been fortunate enough to work with, Inuk Networks, has been acquired by Utah-based Move Networks.

Inuk is a triple-play service provider with a strong offering for telcos and ISPs who want to provide live and real-time video over their networks.

Move Networks is the leading player in live streaming of HD video over the Internet with customers like ABC and CW. In 2008, Move streamed more than 100m hours of HD video using its awesome adaptative streaming technology.

Move was founded by a bunch of ex-Novell guys with deep network smarts. The company has raised $91.3m according to Crunchbase from the likes of Humwin, Steamboat, Benchmark, Cisco and Microsoft.

It is a testament to the quality of the Inuk team, and Marcus Liassides, the founder and CEO. We have built a great engineering group in Wales–British companies can do technology. The company received great support from experienced entrepreneurs like Simon Gibson and Pat Smith; and robust financial backing from SDML and Wesley Clover.

Together, the companies make a great combination–with great geographic spread and complementary technologies. I am looking forward to seeing what they can achieve together ;)

Disclosure: I was, until Monday, a director of Inuk Networks.
